FCC valves - Remosa

Situated in Cagliari, Sardinia, Remosa is one of the most advanced FCC valve centres in the world.

Remosa encompass research, design, manufacture, test installation and field service within one company.

Remosa's design and analysis capability makes them the leader in FCC valve technology, with the in-house capability to understand operating problems and find design solutions. The use of FEA and CFM tools allow designs to be fully proven and visulaized before being placed into production.

The production plant today occupies an area of 35,000 sq. Mt. (376,000 sq. Ft) of which 15,000 (161,000 sq. Ft) is covered. All manufacturing, including heat treatment, is done in-house to guarantee quality control and delivery schedule. Modern milling machines, with a swivelling table capable of accommodating work pieces 3 m long x 2.5 m high and weighing up to 15 t, allow machining of the most complex valves.

Remosa currently designs and manufactures the following valve types:

l Hot and cold wall slide Slide valves can be designed in cold or hot wall configuration. The body for hot wall valves has an abrasion resistant lining on hex-mesh. Cold wall valves have their carbon steel body lined with refractory material and are capable of operating at temperatures up 950 °C.

l Two-port diverter The purpose of this valve is to divert the flue gas flow from the CO boiler to the stack. Under normal conditions the flue gas flows directly from the inlet port to the CO boiler where the combustion from CO to CO2 takes place, while the stack port is kept in the closed position.

The flue gas is diverted to stack and thereafter into the environment whenever the CO Boiler is off line. Remosa currently designs and manufactures four types of two-port diverter valves Linear Pendulum or Rotary, Two-Butterfly &Flip-Flop

l Butterfly Whenever flue gas enters the expander system from the catalyst regenerator of the FCC unit, it passes through the Butterfly Valves: by-pass, control or shut-off

These valves are designed for minimum pressure drop since the main pressure drop should occur across the expander. The size of control and shut-off butterfly valves is determined by the flue gas volume and ranges from 42" to 80".

l Gate A gate valve is a type of slide valve that uses a flat or curved disc perpendicular to the process flow. The disc slides into the flow stream to provide shut-off. The fluid pressure acting on the disc is sufficient to produce a satisfactory seal between metal-to-metal seats.

l Manual gate Remosa also designs and manufactures manual gate valves for hydrodesulphurisation plants (HDS). A gate valve is a linear valve that uses a flat closure element perpendicular to the process flow, which slides into the flow steam to provide shutoff. The gate valve is designed for on-off service in either liquid or gas service (with entrained solid, granules and powders), cryogenic and vacuum service.
